ClioSoft Celebrates Year-end 2010 with 25 New Customers

FREMONT, Calif., February 15, 2011 -- ClioSoft, Inc., developer of the premier hardware configuration management (HCM) system for the electronics design industry, acquired over 25 new customers in 2010. The SOS HCM system, built specifically to meet the requirements of hardware designers, has been adopted by design groups large and small, local and enterprise-wide, in multinationals and start-ups. In 2010, the company also introduced Visual Design Diff (VDD), which gives users the power to quickly compare two versions of a schematic or layout by graphically highlighting the differences directly in the design editor.

“Our IC design group has been using ClioSoft SOS for the last couple of years,” said Dario Gnani, IC Design Engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. “We initially adopted it for a large international collaboration to design the next generation of pixel readout chips for the inner layer of the ATLAS detector installed at CERN LHC. The experience was very positive and we are now gradually expanding ClioSoft use to other projects. Besides supporting (via GUI integration) Cadence Virtuoso both in its old CDBA and the new OA library format, we were also able to share digital design libraries in Mentor's HDL designer and we are currently testing it on Synopsys Custom Designer. Their support has been outstanding, by far the best among our EDA suppliers. We are usually the bottleneck in solving our support issue.”

Commenting in DeepChip on the new VDD tool at DAC 2010, designers and design managers said:

“One tool I really loved to see was the Visual Design Diff from ClioSoft. In my company, we use XORs all the time in our verification flow, so it was a nice change to be able to see results so quickly, instead of waiting for a DRC run every time. Since my company has already been using SOS for over three years now (and me, personally, a lot longer), getting the tool was a no-brainer, both because of the opportunity to optimize our processes and ClioSoft and their support team are people I can count on when I have any questions,” said Rafaela Novais, EDA Team Leader, Luxtera

“I put ClioSoft's new "Visual Design Diff" tool in the "best" category. The color-based views of schematic and layout differences should help the designer with some "eye-popping" visual cues to the different versions. This is very helpful for solving human errors. (As in: "Uhh... It netlisted fine yesterday...", "The last LVS wasn't this bad" and "What did you change?", etc. )

"This tool should reduce the drudgery of finding the change that you didn't intend to make,” said John Williams, CAD Engineering Manager, Zarlink Semiconductor

“Over the past dozen years, with the explosion of design data spread over sites worldwide, we’ve seen a steady rise in recognition of the need for better version control and hardware design data management,” said Srinath Anantharaman, founder and CEO of ClioSoft. “Last year, we added VDD to meet our customers’ need for a quicker and easier way to compare schematics and layouts with the industry’s first Visual Design Diff engine for hardware design. Designing, delivering and supporting tools that directly increase productivity and increase product quality continues to be our focus as we move into 2011.”

About ClioSoft

ClioSoft is the premier developer of hardware configuration management (HCM) solutions for hardware design. The company's SOS design data collaboration platform is built from the ground up to handle the requirements of hardware design flows. The SOS platform gives design teams the freedom and flexibility to choose the way they work, share and collaborate, enabling efficient management of design data from concept through tape-out and improving global team productivity. Custom engineered adaptors seamlessly integrate SOS with leading design flows – Cadence’s Virtuoso® Custom IC, Synopsys’ Galaxy Custom Designer, Mentor’s ICstudio, and SpringSoft’s Laker™ Custom Layout Automation System. ClioSoft's innovative Universal DM Adaptor technology "future proofs" data management needs by ensuring that data from any flow can be meaningfully managed.
