Ikanos Communications Streamlines Distributed
Development Using ClioSoft's
Data Management Solutions
FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 2004 -- ClioSoft's SOS Helps Ikanos Coordinate Design Data Between Fremont, CA and Bangalore, India.
ClioSoft, Inc., a leading supplier of data management solutions for hardware designers, announced that Ikanos Communications, developer of highly programmable chipsets that exceed 100 Mbps over a single copper pair, standardized on ClioSoft's SOS data management solution for all their designers.
SOS provides scalable and reliable data management solutions for multi-site, multi-platform development and is specially tuned to meet the needs of hardware designers. SOS improves a design team's productivity by non-intrusively managing design data and enhancing designer-to-designer and designer-to-manager communication whether they are all in the same building or geographically dispersed across different continents. By using SOS, design team leaders can track progress and tape-out designs faster, with greater confidence and significantly reduced overhead.
"A reliable data management solution was an absolute necessity to coordinate and manage development with a team on the other side of the world and still meet our aggressive schedules," said T.R. Ramesh, Director of VLSI Engineering at Ikanos. "ClioSoft's SOS data management tools had a very short learning curve and helped our teams in Fremont and Bangalore stay synchronized. The intuitive graphical interface improved communication between the team members. ClioSoft's technical support staff was very responsive and helped us setup the distributed development environment."
ClioSoft works very closely with customers to understand their needs. Performance is a primary concern for companies such as Ikanos with design groups spread across multiple sites. ClioSoft has made significant performance improvements with each new release to meet these performance goals.
"We are very proud that a communications technology leader like Ikanos has adopted ClioSoft's products for all their design data management needs and has been successfully using it for the last six months," said Srinath Anantharaman, Founder and CEO of ClioSoft. "Our support staff worked closely with Ikanos to solve all issues and listened closely to the needs of their team. We developed an entirely new 'Express Update' algorithm to speed up workarea synchronization across sites by orders of magnitude."
About Ikanos Communications
Founded in 1999 and based in the Silicon Valley, Ikanos Communications develops and markets highly programmable chipsets that exceed 100 Mbps over a single copper pair. Ikanos' silicon solutions enable access equipment vendors to serve many different customers while slashing time to market and lowering development, manufacturing, and inventory costs.
Ikanos is the first mover in the Fiber Extension over Copper market and was the first to introduce VDSL-DMT over Copper in a high port density solution. Ikanos works closely with both equipment vendors and carriers worldwide to optimize its technology for each market. To date, Ikanos' technology is deployed in the world's largest carrier networks throughout Japan, Korea and in Europe.
Ikanos' comprehensive offering encompasses silicon, embedded software, reference designs, high-level APIs, and extensive documentation. Ikanos contributes actively to public standards development by way of its membership, and leadership, in ATIS Committee T1E1, IEEE 802.3, the DSL Forum, TTC (Japan) and the ITU-T.
